PHIL CLARK

Fifty-six years ago, Phil and Marilyn Clark had their first child. The young family took up residence in unfurnished married quarters at university. With little money, Phil's hobby of building furniture for his family began. Today, he continues his hobby making furniture and accessories in the Arts & Crafts genre for his three children's homes. The breadth of this work includes house doors, trim and cabinetry, tables, chairs, lighting fixtures, frames, clocks, kitchen accessories and cases of all kinds.

Phil and Marilyn have driven extensively throughout Canada and the US and often return home with a load of hardwood discovered along the way. He says "I reached the top of the mountain with my Maloof style rocker made of Oregon Bastogne Walnut for my wife, to mark our 50th wedding anniversary. Making the rocker was inspired by having met Sam Maloof just a few months before his passing."

At 77 years of age, Phil is the elder artisan of the exhibit.
